Nostr reminds me of the old IRC days. It is filled with quirky characters and devoid of a recommendation system. It's a place to interact with strangers, offering a more genuine experience than most popular social networks today.
On nostr, the pursuit of followers doesn't dominate interactions. There's no prestige in having more followers than people you follow.. Because of the lack of recommendation algorithm, I follow a diverse range of people to ensure my feed remains interesting and relevant.
Though not for everyone, nostr's unconventional nature is what makes it cool.
